1. Shipping Rates Introduction

Shipping rates determine the cost of delivering products to customers based on various factors such as order value, shipping method, or real-time calculations. Configuring shipping rates ensures accurate pricing, helping businesses manage logistics efficiently while providing customers with fair and transparent charges.

A shipping rate is the cost charged to customers for transporting goods from a seller’s warehouse to the delivery destination. These rates can vary based on factors such as order value, package weight, shipping distance, delivery speed, and the chosen shipping provider. Businesses use shipping rates to cover transportation expenses while ensuring a fair and transparent pricing structure for customers.

This system allows businesses to set up shipping costs using different methods, including:

  • Fixed amount based on order value – Charges a predefined shipping fee for different order ranges.

  • Percentage-based calculation – Applies a percentage of the order total as the shipping cost.

  • Shipping methods – Uses predefined shipping providers and their rates.

  • Manual calculation – Automatically calculates shipping costs through an ERP system.

  • DRT Transportation – Fetches shipping charges from an external API in real time.

 

 

 

 

  • Go to Administration
  • Click on Application Settings
  • Click on Shipping Rates under Application Settings Action

 

2.  Shipping Rates Overview:

  • The Configure Shipping Rate feature allows users to define shipping costs based on different calculation methods. This ensures flexible pricing for shipments depending on the selected criteria.
  • Available Calculation Bases: Users can configure the shipping rate using different calculation bases. The available options include:

    1. Amount on Order Value

    2. Percentage on Order Value

    3. Shipping Methods

    4. Manual Calculation

    5. DRT Transportation

 

2.1 Amount on Order Value

  • The Amount on Order Value method allows users to set fixed shipping charges based on predefined order value ranges.

  • Users must specify minimum order value and maximum order value for each range.

  • The Amount field represents the fixed shipping charge applied to orders that fall within the specified range.

Field Name Description
Minimum Order Value The lowest order value for which the defined shipping charge applies.
Maximum Order Value The highest order value within the specified range.
Amount The fixed shipping charge is applied to orders falling within that range.

 

2.2 Percentage on Order Value

  • The Percentage on Order Value method calculates shipping costs as a percentage of the total order value.

  • Users define order value ranges by setting minimum order value and maximum order value.

  • Instead of a fixed amount, the Percentage field determines the shipping cost as a percentage of the order value.

Field Name Description
Minimum Order Value The lowest order value for which the defined shipping percentage applies.
Maximum Order Value The highest order value within the specified range.
Percentage The percentage of the order value that will be charged as shipping.

 

 

2.3. Shipping Methods

The Shipping Methods calculation base allows users to configure shipping costs based on predefined shipping methods.

  • The system automatically determines shipping costs based on the selected shipping method.

  • No manual configuration of order value ranges or percentage-based calculations is required.

  • The available shipping methods are defined within the ERP or logistics system.

Field Name Description
Shipping Method Selection Determines the shipping cost based on the selected method.
System-Based Calculation Shipping charges are fetched dynamically from predefined shipping settings.

 

 

2.4 Manual Calculation

The Manual Calculation method enables ERP-driven shipping cost determination.

  • Shipping charges are calculated automatically by the ERP system based on internal rules.

  • The user does not need to configure shipping rates manually.

  • The calculation may depend on factors such as weight, distance, or special handling fees.

 

2.5 DRT Transportation

  • The DRT Transportation method calculates shipping rates dynamically using the DRT Transportation API.

  • Shipping costs are retrieved in real-time via API integration with DRT Transportation services.

  • The system fetches the latest pricing based on shipment parameters such as weight, destination, and urgency.

  • This method ensures accurate pricing without manual updates.

  • The user does not need to define order value ranges or percentages manually.

  • It is ideal for businesses that rely on third-party logistics services.

 

3. Final Steps

Once the desired shipping rate configuration is set:

  1. Click Save to apply the configuration.

  2. Click Cancel to discard changes.
